Summer Outing & Elections of Officers LY 2009-2010

The club officers, members, and their families took a summer break at Pranjetto Hills Hotel and Conference Center, at Tanay, Rizal last 28-29 March 2009. During this outing, the club also elected the new set of officers for LY 2009-2010.

Free Cataract Surgery

As mandated by the Lions Clubs International, the Quezon City Cubao Lions Club is looking for indigent patients who are in need of free cataract operation. This project aims to help the needy in preventing blindness. We have scheduled operations for the month of April and May 2009 at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City. Angelina Mora is one of the recipients of the scholarship program of the Quezon City Cubao Lions Club. She just completed her first-year as an accountancy major at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Like many other indigent students who graduate from public high schools, Angelina would not have been able to pursue a college education without this scholarship program.

The scholarship program is one of the flagship projects of our club. It provides free college education to poor but deserving students of Quezon City. Benefits under the scholarship program include tuition fees, book allowances, and monthly transportation allowances. After more than 20 years of the program's existence, we have produced several scholars who are now gainfully employed, some of whom have even become leaders of their respective institutions.

The Quezon City Cubao Lions Club takes pride in this noble endeavor of serving our community and fellow men.

Values Formation and Character Building Seminar / Workshop

The Quezon City Cubao Lions Club, together with the I Am S.T.R.O.N.G. Foundation, launched the first seminar-workshop on values formation, character building, and good decision making at the Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo High School last March 16, 2009. Participants for the whole-day event were 60 junior high school students of Juan Sumulog High School and Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo High School.

We extend our appreciation to the school administration and teachers of both high schools, seminar facilitators, and officers and members of the Quezon City Cubao Lions Club who joined the activity. We look forward in conducting this seminar-workshop for high school students within the Cubao area for the next Lion Year.
